Healing Volcanic Water All Year Round!
In Western Hungary, at the foot of the 5-million-year-old volcanic Ság Hill in Celldömölk, lies the Vulkán Wellness Hotel & Camping. The spa and thermal pools cover a combined water surface of 1,600 m². The healing volcanic water of Celldömölk comes from a depth of 1,245 meters.
The hotel features 40 nature-inspired rooms with balconies, 24 mobile homes, and 56 caravan pitches. Our hotel restaurant and bar serve seasonal delicacies. Guests can book half-board accommodations, which include a generous buffet breakfast and dinner. For children, there is a playroom, and the camping area includes a playground as well. Additionally, activities like TouchGameTable, minigolf, billiards, table football, and a fitness room are available for all ages. Free Wi-Fi and parking ensure a comfortable stay for our guests. Our sauna area includes infrared and Finnish saunas, a bio sauna, and a steam cabin.
Sports enthusiasts will enjoy our illuminated artificial grass football field, basketball court, and tennis court. Bicycles are available for rent at the hotel reception.
The healing water of Celldömölk is recommended for chronic cartilage wear caused by aging in the spine and joints, chronic metabolic conditions (e.g., gout), pain in muscles and tendons around the joints, chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases, rehabilitation after orthopaedic and trauma surgeries, lower back pain, sciatic nerve pain, posture disorders (e.g., scoliosis), and for stress and fatigue relief. Treatments covered by the national health insurance are also available at the thermal bath.
The bath complex offers eight different pools, a seasonal children’s area with giant slides, a sauna world, wellness treatments and massages, providing perfect relaxation for all ages. For an additional fee, guests can enjoy the salt cave and solarium.
Celldömölk and its surroundings boast rich history and natural beauty. Ság Hill is part of the Sághegy Protected Landscape Area, offering a unique opportunity to walk along the rim of an ancient volcano and explore its fascinating history. Nordic walking poles are available for free! While exploring the hill, visitors can discover the Sághegy Museum, housed in a former transformer building of the basalt quarry.
For geology and geography enthusiasts, the Kemenes Vulkán Park is just a 5-minute drive from the hotel. This is Hungary’s only volcanology exhibition, housed in a strikingly designed building. Spread over 1,000 m², it showcases the volcanoes of Hungary and the Earth, with special attention to the basalt volcano of Ság Hill. Next to the Volcano Park, families can visit the Vasparipa Játszótér, where a garden railway with a 700-meter track provides fun for all ages, featuring scaled-down iconic locomotives.
Celldömölk is also renowned for its wine culture, wine tasting at one of the local wineries is a must. Enjoy the hospitality of the producers and sample local wines. We recommend Szív Pince and Dénes Hegybirtok among others. The wine, known as "Sagweiner," was sold in pharmacies across Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries due to its health benefits. Each autumn, Celldömölk hosts the Sághegyi Harvest Days.
